HD or not, that Phillips 42 is looking like a great bargain. I've been looking at them and I thought the picture was as good as any on the market.

Here's the geeks guide to the Nordmende 26" LCD TV :

    "HDREADY"
    1366 x 768
    2 SCART
    1 HDMI
    COMPONENT
    SVID
    COAX
    NO VGA
    NO DVI
    500 cd/m2
    Contrast 600:1
    178o viewing angle
Seemed to have some audio jacks on the right hand side.
Comes with stand and wall bracket
    Panel : LG / SONY

I have been out to Powercity and taken a look at the product, it was standing next to a Sony screen hooked into a SD Signal and the picture looked very comparable. The screen being 26" is a little on the small side and isnt really helped by having 2 speakers either side , which aren't detatchable.

All in all it will be a bit of a risk buying this product as I can't find a review ANYWHERE, but from what I have seen I think it would be a risk worth taking , especially if you can get it for €400/500.

I'm going to head out to Bray either tonight / tommorow and pick one up, so I will write a review when I have had it a few days. That's if there are any left.

Edit : Spoke to Powercity Bray, they didnt say how many they had left, but he knew there were only 3 sold by 11 o'clock.

Edit Edit : If someone goes to Powercity / D.I.D before I do, can they ask what the response time of the panel is, I completely forgot to ask and dont want to be ringing them up harassing them anymore :)

well smarty pants kearnsr, the question i asked hasnt been asked, what was asked was if the tv was HD or did anyone have the model, anyway regardless...

i rang did in bray and she told me that the tv was HD ready whatever that means, she also said that they dont have them yet and they are getting them tomorrow morning... she didnt know if they had hdmi or what connections...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭Smoggy

HD Ready is what you should be looking out for as it meets all current requirements.

I saw the sharp, but I didn't stop to ask any questions , All I can say is its looks good, as in standing on the shelf it looked cool. Cant tell you anymore , such as ports , picture quality , resolutions - any of the interesting stuff.

You asked had did any one have any specs. Asking if its hd is more or less asking for the specs. Asking for the model number is just the same

People linked to the power city to check the specs. Why did you you just not read the thread and look at the information that was supplied rather than asking the same question in a different way

DID is opening tomorrow, with special deals limited to 30 per item.

42" plasma was one think it was LG/phillips. for 999 euros.

the power city sale i'd say is just to compete with this..

It was funny though, some bloke tuned around to the salesman in DID
and said "your prices are far higher than Power City, the only reason I'm here is the missus wanted to go to Woodies next door! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,466 ✭✭✭Smoggy

The missus picked me up a Nordmende from Power City on Friday and has kept it a secret until last night. Its now all setup and sitting in the living room. Im impressed with the picture quality and have played a non high def film on it and also played some games on the xbox 360 in 1080i which looked great.
