Right, im off on a charity bike run this weekend and although i have done plenty of long distance journeys (around ireland) i havent spent 4 days on the road. Looking for tips on what to bring for the aul 'just in case' without being silly. Bike was serviced (deauville) 2 months ago and tyres are new.

Going to bring puncture repair kit, and wets obviously. Bring that soap for me hands (that doesnt need water, you just rub it in). iPod in the me pocket on the sly for the 6 hour days.

SHould i bring oil or anything else? ALtho im an experienced biker, it doesn mean im practical!!

Credit card with credit on it... cash for bribing local law enforcment, and the one pair of underpants should do for the weekend.
    Oh.. and lock.
Seriously, I dont belive in brinigng lots of stuff. I have a puncture repair kit. And tool kit thats in bike. If it cant be fixed with that, then ur wasting ur time.
One other thing is kitchen paper... can be used as multifunction paper:D

Spear gloves, Tire weld if you have tubeless tires, extra pairs of socks and pants/boxers (all that time in the sadle and armor makes a guy sweaty) ;), Basic tools, electrical tape. Oil wont be needed and can be picked up at any petrol station anyway.

Ear plugs might be handy too. I found them quite handy driving across Inkland.

    Oops! :o forgot about that!

Use the earplugs when you get tired of listening to music....

While we are on the topic of music, I found that if I taped headphones to the spaces (for them) on the inside of my helmet that I heard more around me rather than sticking in ear headphones in my ear.

I would suggest going for a drive with the music on - it can be a little unnerving at times. You lose some of the sounds from around you (like in City/traffic driving) but out on the open road it is great.

Maybe if you had the ipod in front of you in a tank bag or something, you could easily stop it if you wanted to if it was impeding you.

There is nothing illegal about it if that is what was worrying you. It more depends on how safe you feel doing it.

This is definitely over-kill (it's a checklist for circumnavigators etc !) but it might draw your attention to something that could be useful..

Bunji cords don't take up alot of space and are always handy to have..

    And for the ladies...

    Hairdryer
    Spare hairdryer
    Backup hairdryer
    Emergency hairdryer
    Travel hairdryer

sorry I just had to do it :D

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

some good tips in this months t.w.o.
split out as much gear as possible between you and your companions.

1 puncture repair kit is fine for 4 bikes
    1 lock for 2 bikes
1 tool kit for 10 bikes
1 first aid kit for 10 bikes

    and so on and on
no need for everyone to have everything
