Playing *.BIN files

Obviously I would never condone the illegal download of any files, but i got a copy of a movie t'other day it's got a .cue file, and a 700 Mb .bin file, and I have no idea how to play the movie. Usually i play all my DVDs and media files with VLC media player, but when i play the .bin file through that i have no sound, anyone have any idea how to play this movie?

Also sorry if this is the wrong forum, but couldn't see a more appropriate one so MODs feel free to move on at your discretion

burn with cdrwin or nero orget alcohol 120% and mount the cue file onto a virtual dvd drive and it'll work

Bin and Cue are the image file you use to write to a CD/DVD!! Go into Nero and click open, then open your cue file!!

Daemon Tools etc. will be able to "mount" the image as a virtual drive and run it from there.

VLC Media Player plays bin files.

    /edit
sorry, didn't realise you tried that already. You might need a codec pack like this one to get the sound working.

No luck with daemon, trying the codec pack now.

.BIN files mean BINary files. IE all the 1's and 0's that make up a CD image. If Nero doesn't like it try PowerISO - that program picks up nearly any image and can convert it to ISO for burning via Nero or DVD Decrypter.

That may be true but I've got a couple of films as BIN files and I can definitely watch them in VLC, with sound.

That's because VLC internally mounts the image checks if it's a VCD and then plays it if so, as was said bin/cue is not a video container.

In some instances make sure the bin and cue file have the same file name e.g. test.bin & test.cue otherwise it will not work properly.

You could, now forgive me if this sounds crazy, but just do the easy thing and right click the video playing in VLC >> Audio >> Track 1.
