Ok I've just installed Bootcamp and XP Pro on a Macbook Pro. Initial impressions are very very good. Installation went without a hitch and the partitioning utility supplied by Apple is pure simplicity itself.

Aside from some devices that don't work, i.e. iSight Camera - Apple Modem - Backlighting - Scrolling, everything else is perfect. It found my Airport network and joined without problems.

Speed wise it's a screamer. Windows boots almost as quick as OS X and video and audio playback are perfect. Application open as quick if not quicker than some new desktops I've tried recently and so far there have been no compatability issues. Office is fine Cooledit Pro is fine, iTunes, PowerDVD etc etc all worked without problems.

Downsides are battery life not as good as with OS X - the machine gets hotter. I think these are related issues in that XP doesn't have the power saving - hence heat reducing - abilities of OS X but I can live with that.

I can't wait for Apple to release 10.5 to be ablt to run both XP and OS X at the same time.

Very happy camper here - 2 laptops for the price of 1 !!

Question: When Bootcamp partitions your disk. Say you boot up in OSX, is there a way then you can access files that are on the Windows partition?

If it's FAT32 you can read and write, but only read if it's NTFS. As far as I know.

What he ^^^^^^ says ! It was for this very reason I formatted using FAT32. Understanding your question on a more basic level, the Windows partition shows up on your OS X desktop (Finder) and is accessible just like any other partition, previous conditions apply.

Ok cool. So if I had Word docs on my Window side I could access them for emailing to people when booted up in OSX.

Cool. Gotta get me bootcamp. And Half-Life 2!!!!
