I'm gonna be heading into to the SE Scalps tonight. It's proved to be a great tourney the times I have headed in.

But beware if your thinkin of going in, I have a new secret weapon.....and it's salmon

Even Gholi's spelling isn't that bad........

I think I will have to at least another week to go to this tourney, but if there is a proliferation of Salmon jumpers I can see this being a big crowd puller......

the Chief wore a fetching little new number (kinda beige) on Sat night and dropped at least 1.5 grand at the cash table

the Moral is clear; never desert the salmon.....

It all goes back to the old Irish tale about the Salmon of Knowledge. It has been reincarnated in jumper form.

My only fear is what will happen when the salmon collide!

What happens when an immoveable object meets an unstoppable force?

LOL. What happens when you get burnt by said salmon, I thought his wisdom passes on to you. How many people here have been burnt?

Too many classics on this page - this should be made a sticky!

P.S. I have found myself a salmon(-ish) top too, and cashed in the SE a few days ago while wearing. It WORKS :)

i dont know if this is true or not but rumour has it that chief is available for hire for private coaching. I took a look at the flyer and some of the lessons include:

    pot odds.
position position position(its a load of crap)
    playing draws
    playing 2 ousters
    playing 1 ousters
    playing the board.
    mutliway pots .
    drawing dead.
    never giving up hope.
    reading opponents
hiding the strength of your hand
early tourney strategy and building a stack
and a whole section on cash games

looks like a gold mine to me.

I'm bringing a can of John West salmon chunks in my jacket pocket as I couldn't find any salmon clothing in time. It'll also be my last poker for a month as I'm off to Thailand this weekend.

I'll compromise and eat some of my famous anchovy and horseradish sandwiches before wandering into the fitz rebuy later on. If the opposition are going to call me fishbreath I might as well give them proper reason to.

Until the end of September probably. You should have been at the DC last night, I never got so pushed around and bullied in my life. Free chips for all!

Well the samlon experiment turned up unexpected results.

Didn't - Fill any gutshots, manage any ridiculous out draws.
Did - Lose 6K+ when my aces were no match for QQ, all in pre flop....grrrrr

Managed to continue the tilting for the rest of the night......double grrrr.

Moral - Don't mess with powers you can't control! :(

I will be retiring the salmon top!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,754 ✭✭✭ianmc38

Indeed you failed to harness the power of the salmon, as your aces were outdrawn by the ladies, in true Chief Brody style.

My can of salmon chunks didn't work either, although i was optimistic when my 64o beat AQo near the start of the night. Ended up in 5th after losing a race with AT vs 55.

Great tourney, great structure and tonnes of play at the final table.

    all things come in threes.
for this to work you need
    (1) to be a fishy player
    (2) the salmon jumper
    (3) be a lookalike to someone who has or has had an aossociatin with our underwater firends in the past.
