Myself and GF heading there in a few weeks and looking forward to it. Anybody been, what do you think? Expensive or cheap, full of louts or refreshingly sane?

I was in Malta back in the late 90's and absolutely loved it. There's plenty to do and see, I'd particularly recommend the day trips to Sicily and Gozo. From what I remember prices for most goods and services were very reasonable. Didn't come across any louts either. The only negative thing about Malta is the beaches - they are non-existent.
