Anyone out there with Illustrator experience - I need you!!

I have created some template docs for a new business but when I try and print them onto A4 paper it doesnt come out anything like how It looks on the designed page.

Rather than post up the docs I have that are wrong. Can someone email me their details to mpatte7711@aol.com and I will email them across. It will probably be something really easy to spot/change for someone who uses it a lot more frequently that I do.

    Appreciate any help!!

    Are you using clipping masks?

I tried importing artwork from illustrator into Flash that had a clipping mask and it didn't look so hot.

A clipping mask is a layer that tells Illustrator to hide everything outside the object in the clipping mask layer (afair).

If you have extra bits and bobs on your prints that you don't think should be there then that's something to check. I wouldn't have thought that it would do that but then I've never printed Illustrator docs.

What exactly is the problem with your artwork?

To check for clipping masks go to the layers and open up the objects in the layers and you'll see a layer entitled clipping mask. (I think, someone may correct me as I don't have Illustrator on this machine).

you need to be more specific, probably something to do with your printers required margins?

When you look at it in Illustrator is shows the layout where I want it. However, when I print it on the local printer, the address part of it is moved up quite a bit.

I have played around with printer margins but no matter what I do it ends up the same or else it messes the whole document up big style!!

I cant add ai docs as not recognised and even with winzip it doesnt go below the 100k size.

save it as a pdf and then print it? sounds like you have an orientation mismatch or paper size? unless you have a borderless printer, your printer will have to have X mm as a margin, regardless of your design
