I figure there should be plenty of people with experience of ways of going about getting your Australian tax back while still in Australia.Im here at the minute and the tax year just ended ive gotten all my group certificates so i was just wondering whats the best way to go about getting as much as possible of it back.It seems a bit hit and miss over here.Ill bend the rules as much as i can so feel free to suggest anything you did.Cheers.

Im in australia too at the moment and have just started working reciently and am paying 29% tax. That will add up to a nice little nest egg at the end of my year over here.

Ive been looking into the aus tax system just to see how it works and it looks awefull complicated and way too much effort that id be willing to put into it.

There is a firm called taxback.com who do all the work for you but they take a percentage of what you get back but they do tell you what your entitled to first before you have to pay anything.

Ill probably be using them because im just lazy but they will probably know the ins and outs of how to get the most back.

PS: The hospitality industry pays really well overhere. Im getting about 10euro an hour week days, 12 euro on saturdays and nearly 15 euro on sundays. Pretty sweet.

put down your a resident for tax purposes, otherwise you'll only get back about $100 - 200, cause backpackres are not entiltled to tax back caus eo thenon resifdent thing, when tax back time comes, you will see numerous places offering to get your tax back, alot of these are people who just setup this for a month to make a few dollars and don't understand the resident rule, so these guys will put you down as a non resident and hence you will get bugger all. A decent qualified accountant will put you down as a resident for tax purposes and get most of your tax back for you. Personally i used this guy in Surrey hills opposite the Irish Bar(which unbelieveably i can't remember the name of today, even though i lived in it) Indian dude who knows the score:

    his address
    Tejbir Singh
    240 Riley st
    Surrey Hills
    NSW 2010
