Has anybody flown US Airways from Dublin to Philadelphia? What is the service out of Dublin like i know it differs from their normal transatlanic service because they use 767's. Can somebody tell me what their like?

A lot of their transatlantic services are operated by 767's. Don't mix them up with the smaller, single aisle 757's Continental are using at the moment. Like most US airlines, you do get charged for alcohol (and I believe headsets for the IFE). These sites should give you some idea of what to expect.

Thanks for the Info but these website really only give you info on the domestic service. I need to know about the service out of Dublin.

There are reviews of flights from Europe to the US as well - what exactly do you need to know? Carsurvey has loads of reviews of Europe -> US flights. (e.g http://www.carsurvey.org/air/review_11938.html)

I've taken that flight a few times and it seems fine to me. Not significantly different from any other transatlantic flight I've ever taken.

Your question is a bit vague, though. Are you asking if the flight is crowded / cramped / good food / friendly attendants?

Whats the inflight entertainment like? I heard its a bit basic. Aslo yest what are the cabin crew like? Is the food eatable?

Food reasonable (it'll be most likely the usual economy class meal - starter, hot chicken/beef dish, bread roll, desert, piece of cheese). Cabin crew variable from fantastic to terrible, like most US airlines. IFE won't be posh on the 767. I believe it's overhead monitors still in economy. Buy your headphones on board or bring your own

Food is the usual TV Dinner in a plastic bowl, with the obligatory roll and chocolate pudding. Not much better or worse than any other airline.

No back-of-the-seat personal TVs that I have ever seen. In-flight entertainment is the overhead screen with usual crap Hollywood flop movie. Either some Disney effort involving a talking dog saving the world, or some girlie schlock with Jennifer Anniston looking for Mr. Right.

I can't even remember the last time I actually watched an in-flight movie. I usually bring the laptop and a couple of DVDs. If that would be practical in your case, I'd advise doing likewise.

Cabin crew seemed grand, though I have never had any special requests for them.

Continental had a very good set up when they used their 767 on the DUB - EWR route

from working for all the US major airlines that fly into dublin, i can say that determining what the service is going to be like before finding out the aircraft type is can be pretty hard

Continental (when using the 767) would be my number one as theyre all new, clean aircraft with personal tvs etc

Continentals 757 is smaller and more like a plane youd take a short hop on, similar to the 737 but just longer and with more pitch in the seats

Aer lingus's A330s didnt have personal tvs last time i checked, apart from their LA route and possibly another one or two (dubai and chicago maybe!)

US Airways historically, for me, have been the shabbiest 767s ive seen in dublin, nasty 80s style color scheme on their seats, old looking portable t.vs in the overhead bins (one every 4 rows or so) etc

Delta seem to vary their planes, not sure what theyre using at the mo but they were using a MD 80 for some time, what a piece of junk, couldnt sit on it all the way to atlanta myself... no way jose! altho they also used a 777 for a short period, if they brought that back during the summer or maybe even a 767 im sure it would be alot more modern
