Internal, no external power supply or extra wires (all hidden inside the case). Always use internal wherever possible. :)

    Thought I'd add to this.

    1. I have checked this - and in the main its true - In 99% of cases will a usb2 external hard drive at least work slowly rather than not work at all? I have a 3 year old laptop with usb1 ports.

    2. I have a pcmcia slot free - would that be a good way to upgrade to usb 2? Would the usb2-pcmcia slot need to be externally powered?

    3. Actually a hd like this one - claims it gets all the power it needs from a usb2. Hence questions 1 and 2.

My need is to move stuff from my laptop.

    1. I have a very old computer with USB1.1 and the drive I have is made for USB2, works fine but yes its slower.

2.This is all you need here, no external power source from what I can see.

    3. I had a small sony external drive (40gb) that had no power supply and worked fine, so they are available, but probably easier to get one with the external power. Try Komplett.ie

That internal HDD seems a bit pricy. Check www.komplett.ie for a better price.

Good stuff, you might be advised to stay away from the larger stores like Best Buy (their store associates are horribly annoying, try to sell you rubbish you dont need, like PC World x 100) like if you spot some lesser known store that looks local perhaps. Good luck anyway. :)
