Play.com won't ship gadgets / electronics over here...

... don't strike me as phenomenally cheap though... might be just me though!

    Bundle them in a 12 - 16 pack for that price and i'd re-consider!

When you select euro they appear as euro 0.00, hence the title, but when you go to the checkout they charge. Anyway they dont deliver to rep of ireland like you say!

While they mightn't last as well as a new pack of duracells you can hardly beat 2 euros for 20 AA's.

Nah, they're the biggest pile of ****e tbh.

Won't even power a digital camera long enough to turn it on, not that I'd want to use them in a good camera.

IMHO, if you are getting sick of spending 5 or 6 euros per pack of batteries, this offer from 7dayshop.com is the business. Order a few packs of the high capacities batteries and it pays for itself quickly.
I've started using them, and it changes the way you use batteries... No more leaving a charger on overnight - 30mins and you're done.

    Even works worldwide! :)

I did notice that, my digital camera lasted - literally - about 10 seconds with batteries I got from the euro store, it was 2 euro for 20 though so I wasn't expectly much. They are perfect though for things like remotes and the like.

That said though, I got a 10 pack of hyundai batteries in the euro store for 2 euro recently, and a single aaa battery has lasted me almost a week in my mp3 player...sometimes they have much better batteries then others.

The reason they last shag all time in digital cameras is because they typically need Ni-Mh batteries... not the standard Ni-Cd you get in shops.

Invest in a 4 pack of rechargable Ni-Mh batteries and you can get up to 3 - 4 days outta them!

Yeah wait till Lidl /aldi do them again. 8 AA's + fast charger for €20. A set of 4 AA's for €4-5 too
and if you use the Car adaptor it's light enough to carry on holidays ( or you could source a solar AA charger ! )

People say Duracells last longer than rechargables but today's NiMH's have 4 times the charge capacity of the first NiCAD. You can go rechargable for less than a large multipack of Duracell's

Rechargables do self discharge after a few weeks so aren't as useful for TV remotes and clocks.
