    Hey,

I've got a quite large collection of mp3s (99% properly tagged) but only a handful of albums have the proper artwork. Can anyone recommend a decent, free, utility that will source artwork automatically from places like amazon.com?

    Thanks in advance!

I've used iTunes Art Importer before to add artwork. It's free, but you need to download and install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 for it to work.

It downloads album covers from Amazon.com, so anything obscure might result in an equally obscure cover. AFAIK, you can get it to go through your library and download the most appropriate artwork automatically.

I added artwork to just about all my library over the weekend.
    Quite a job-took over 5 hours

The program in the above link is good but bear in mind it often won't find artwork if the album name isn't exactly right.

For instance I had one album in my library that had "UK version" in the title. For this reason the software couldn't find the artwork

It may get 70%-80% and you can use amazon yourself to get the rest

Aye, as well as that it sometimes picks up poor images, or ones with stickers on the cover (or other things like warning labels etc.)

Maybe dl the programme and run it, and then if you spot any bad images go back and fix it manually.

There's a great widget for OS X that you can get from the Apple site that allows you to add artwork to the current playing song in iTunes. You can even select the source where it takes the covers from. I'm using it now and it's great. Not 100% for getting the correct artwork but it has a refresh button which sometimes shuffles through a few covers. As the above posters suggest you can always go back and tweak.
