    Hi All,

I am thinking of changing my camera for something a bit better. I have a Canon A80 at the moment, it's a great little P&S, but the small lcd has always bothered me.
I've been reviewing the Canon A620 and the S2 or S3.
My interests are macro work and general shots, scenery etc.
The expense and lack of a live preview and flip out lcd has put me off the canon dSLR cameras. Should I wait, and see if canon bring one out?
Olympus have a dSLR with flip screen and live preview, but I would prefer to stick with a canon.

What do you think of the S2 or S3? Is the A620 to close to what I have to warrent changing?

    Advice appreciated!!

    Cheers
    Ciaran

The live preview and flip out lcd are things that you get on gadgets rather than cameras for photographers, I'd say... I wouldn't hold your breath for them on a dslr. You probably know what I'm going to say next because of all the other similar threads here, but if at all possible go for a dslr rather than a compact. It seems like an expense, yes, but think how much another couple of P&S are going to cost you as you steadily outgrow them, rather than buying a body and then building a lens collection which you can then keep for years and years, not to mention the sheer versatility of being able to change lenses and use stuff like extension tubes for macro work, and get wide angles, tele zooms, etc etc... I don't know your budget but if at all possible, hang off and save up for even a second hand dslr and an 18-80mm lens to get you started... then it will take a good long while for you to outgrow the body, and you can add to the kit rather than just keep on replacing. You'll just be far too limited with another compact, I think.
