    Hi all,

Hope to run an online poker comp for a couple of mates from around ireland and further afield. We'll prob use paypal to hold the money etc. What we need is an idea of which poker app will allow the creation of a locked room and allow you to choose the game played, ie texas or 7 stud etc.

Thanks in advance if anyone can provide some pointers.

Pretty sure All-In has this. Some sites like Pokerstars take a bit of time before they let you create private games.

boylepoker(maybe most prima sites?) allows you a choice of cash/stt/mtt's, you can choose the buy-in, max players etc, however you can't choose the structure and i doubt it'll be a deepstacked tourney!

Ideally we want to play for fun money and organise the allocation of winnings seperatley. There was one poker app that allowed private fun money rooms, but I cant remember it.

why have it as a fun money tourn?

Why not just have a regular one and use the application devide out the winings.

Cause they will save paying a percentage to the poker room, good thinking in my book, online poker rooms screw us over enough as is, why pay em extra if you don't have to!
Then again paypal screw people over n all but not as much as the poker rooms.

Anyways not sure which place allows fun private games - have a feeling it might be pokerroom but not at my home pc right now so can't check.

The rake is not that bad,I would certainly not go to this trouble to avoid it.Each to the own I suppose.

Well in reality we dont even have to use paypal as we will all be meeting up in a few weeks anyhow, gaming clan.

Pokerroom used to allow fun private tables but may only have been cashgames.

I would also suggest using prima, if its because of the rakepaypal etc will probably come to more in charges. AllIn allow paypal deposits if thats the reason for not wanting to play a normal stt.

Yeah realise there is the hassle factor involved for em so depends on how much they are playing for I suppose - still the percentage is normally around 10% if it's a $50 game then that's $50 for a table of 10 going to the poker site - enough to get you a decent few beers even in rip off Dublin!, and defo enough to get u pissed over here in Manchester!

If it's a one off then yeah fair enough pay the fee but if it's going to be a regular thing for em I would definitely suggest avoiding it particularly if they are playing for any sort of reasonable money, over time they's save a fortune.

And if you think rake is not so bad...I was looking back at Pokertracker recently, I've made a little profit overall ( a decent one from hold em cash games - should stick to them really  ) but have paid out nearly $10K:mad: since last September on rake alone have got some rakeback but still.... to me that's a sickening amount as I say these sites are getting easy money from us so to me rake is a dirty dirty word - it adds up big style...if they can get away without paying a fee I say more power to em.

Well paypal are theiving b'ds 'n all so makes perfect sense to play fun tourney as long as you all trust each other - now maybe that could be da deciding factor :D
