Cloning a PC

    I have 8 new Dell PC's here.
All are gonna need the same software, printers ..... installed on them.
Is it a good idea to install everything on one PC and clone it onto all the others using something like Symantec's Norton Ghost?
Will this even work or should I stop being lazy and just do them 1 by 1?

As long as all are absolutely identical, there should be no problem with that.

why waste days of tedious installation when you can do it all in a few hours

Lads here in work charge €200 a pop to re-install a stored clone :D

The amount of cash I see wasted every day is crazy.

Be sure to sysprep the image first before deployment. Resets the SID (Security Identifer) and allows you to input the correct licence key, assuming you aren't using a volume\corporate licence.

You can somtimes get away without sysprep, but its better to be safe than sorry IMO. For one, you may have validation\WGA issues further down the line, not to mention all the computers will have the same NetBIOS name. Not a major issue, but another one that you can prevent by using sysprep.

    Sysprep
