Does NTL Digital TV Feed work with Digital TV Cards in PCs?

I'm thinking of getting a Digital TV 'Freeview' card and plugging in the NTL digital feed I have into it - from my limited knowledge it *should* work - has anyone done this and did you get good results?

I phoned NTL and asked them but the supposed 'technical' person kept putting me on hold while she checked with other people in there.... seemed like she hadn't really got a clue. Finally the answer I got back was "It should work fine but don't take my word for it...."

Hardly inspiring. I won't even post what she said when I asked her what the USB port on the box was for :-)

I reckon that (obviously) the subscription channels like Sky Sports / Movies (which I have through the box and my sub) won't work - but again, I *think* the normal ones should.

    Any help much appreciated.

It won't work. NTL digital isn't freeview. Pull the card out of your stb and see what you get.I couldn't tell if those channels that work without the card would work on your pc though.

Don't get one for that purpose. That is a DVB-T card, and not suitable for cable.

Well, I tried what you suggested re removing the card and seeing what stations I'd get - and the answer is zero. The box kept giving an error message, and it took three goes of removing / replacing the card and rebooting the box to get it working again so I think I'll leave it alone.

A pity that you can't get a digital card for the PC - would've been handy....

To view digital cable on the PC, you need a DVB-C card. Get one that has a CAM slot as well to take a CAM for Nagravision (used by NTL). If you cant get one of those, an ordinary one may work with a Software Nagravision CAM and a smartcard reader. The card reader lets the software access the keys on the NTL card to decode the picture but its no guarentee.
