Scart lead reviews?

    Hi All

Trying to figure out if I should go and upgrade my old scarts (crappy 8 euro scart to scart in curry's) for more high end gold plated scart leads for my new LCD tv - will it make a dramatic difference or just a small improvement or maybe none at all?

Any links to reviews, views, insights or long waffles welcome....

Personally, I think gold plating does nothing for picture quality.

More important would be fully screened cables, to optimise signal quality.

Yeah they don't really give any significant improvement. If anything, thicker cables have a higher parasitic capacitance and inductance thus possibly reducing signal quality. If you have decent (i.e. not a DIY cable or damaged screen etc) it will do the job just fine.

Just wanted to add that you should probably want to start moving away from Scart cables and looking into Component and HDMI/DVI connectivity to get the best outta your LCD.

    G'luck

Cheers - I am slowly moving away from the scarts, have the component for the DVD and then will move to HDMI when i eventually get skyHD. problem is the new tv doesnt have a well placed S-video socket for the current sky+ box so my only option is scart. But the picture just doesnt look great, it actually looked better on the previous plasma i had!!

I was going to go and spend the extra money on a decent scart, but maybe it makes sense to move away for good.

Thanks again - any more comments just keep them coming

If you want to invest in a good scart then please take a look at these 2 shops.

I purchased off both of them and would recommend all of the IXOS, QED products.
