It's done and dusted apart from 1 or 2 songs apparently. He's been playing a few new songs recently at gigs which I'd imagine will be on the next album.

I went to see him a few times two years ago (or some long time ago) and he was playing new songs then and still no sign of a new album.

I bought O like 60 times. I literally cant wait for the next remix of O. O is such a good album, you have to buy O at least 60 times to truly appreciate O. I might go and buy O again right now, God Damien Rice is so inventive and fresh.. Hes not stale at all. Hes not..

    Tar.A, that's not nice.

    it's not entirely unwarranted though..

rice has got plenty of good songs that weren't on O, no idea why he hasbn't released two or three albums since .. it's kind of washed away the interest I had in his music. If he releases anything else, whippiee.. I'm sure I'll get around to hearing it but I don't care any more

Personally, and don't haul me up by the toenails for this - it's just an opinion, I find Damien Rice unbearable. Whiney, po-faced and earnest in the extreme. I don't take seriously people who take themselves that seriously.

Seems we are both accurate and mean. :)
A lot of poeple share that opinion, some of my friends have met and hung out with the man, don't want to repeat their opinions of him.

I like one of his songs, the professor, that's it.
If I did like him I would have given up interest in him, he hasn't released anything in so long...

    bit like your humour:rolleyes:
Oh I can feel the burn, owwwee, no really, you got me.

I meant new as in written since he stopped touring in 2004 (he's only played a handful of shows since then. This tour is his first one back). I wasn't talking about Blowers Daughter 2 or Sand etc. just the songs that he's debuted in the past 2/3 weeks.

I was talking to Vyvienne (his cellist) a few months ago when they were recording. I think they were just burnt out after the record getting progressively bigger in different countries at different stages, and then having to go tour it...kind of like what happened with David Gray & White Ladder. Anyway the point is that the album is on the way...

I'm going to see him next Tuesday. I can't believe I'm lucky enough to be in Montreal when he is touring. I haven't seen him live in like 2 years I think. I'm really looking forward to hearing the new material. I'm really looking forward to his new album. We've waited 4 yrs what's another couple of months eh?

i Hope it will have face on it.. that's a great song.. I'd like to hear a studio version

    I think it's face anyway...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 226 ✭✭Closing Doors

Yeah the song is called Face. He recorded a studio version of it with Juniper which was only so-so (although their live version rocked!). Bell X1 released it in 2000 also.

Actually I'd like to see a duel to the death between the two in a bowl full of Jello. Who's with me?
