Anyone ever RMA with Peats?

I have a Hiper 580W modular power supply that I bought from peats about 6 months ago. This week, it failed - its fans have stopped spinning. When you switch on the PC it will power off after a few seconds. I've swapped in an old PSU in the mean time and everything is working OK, except my SATA disks as the old PSU has no SATA connectors. Also had to use a PCI-E power adaptor for my graphics card.

Anyways, the Hiper PSU has a 3 year warranty. I guess I need to return it to Peats. I have mailed them but I don't expect a reply until some time on Monday. Has anyone here RMA'd anything with them? If so, what's it like? Did they get you a replacement quickly? Any hassle?

    Thanks

I don't suppose you'll be making a trip up from Kilkenny any time soon. I reckon you'd fair a lot better if you do it in person.

I had a mobo last year that wouldn't work for me so I sent it back via a local courier. A few days later I got a call and was told a new one was on the way, so in all no more than 10-12 working days to have it sorted and new one shipped to me.

Peats are very good in my experience because when i brought back my 500watt Hiper psu which was making a large clicking sound, I had the item replaced with no crap and all that was nessecery was the reciept, no filling out RMA forums or any of that stuff.

I'd rather do it in person alright, as the PSU is a heavy beast and will probably be quite expensive to post, but I won't be in Dublin for ages. I've used the contact form on their site for instructions and am waiting for a response - do ye think i will have to send back all the cables and stuff with the PSU as well?

You may have to send back all the cables it depends. When I used to deal with Hiper support in my last job they used to get pissy about non returning of the item with all its original boxes and accessories

What colour is the power supply? If we have the same one in stock we can just swap it over and send it back to the supplier. You don't necessarily have to have the cables. We can just swap the unit.

Its red - i don't mind what colour the replacement is either if that's any help, as its in a case with no window.
I do have the box and cables and stuff if they really are needed!

Not really, we have the red one here, so just bring back your one, we'll swap the unit around and send the faulty one back with the new cables. We will have to run a quick check on it though! :o

    ok

I dunno if you're working yourself today or what, but I sent a message in yesterday via the contact form on the peats site - since I live in the sticks I won't be able to go in in person and will have to post it.

i'll wait for a response to that before doing anything, don't want to get any wires crossed!

    Cheers.

Someone from Peats rang a while ago, I'll be posting the PSU to them, they'll test it and assuming its acceptable, post me a replacement. Nice :)
