Just to explain - This is a sat to another comp.

1st and 2nd get through to the next level. 3rd gets $12.

I think this ranks as one of the most stupid plays I've ever witnessed.

mefolder was the beneficiary of her stupidity.

Whats your raising range here? Since you can only call with AA and maybe KK I dont think its that bad a move. Many players would fold AA here (I think).

I fold KK here. There's a successful satellite player who's written a sat strategy on Betfair where he talks of folding in this exact situation when the chip leader reraises you all-in. He has folded AA.

I think calling here is bad.

I dont know about that either. Its not like if you fold here you can just blind your way to victory, the third place is going to have to be knocked out somehow, and if he doubles up he will have just as many chips as you. If you call and win here you would have terrible trouble coming third, so effectively this is a call to get through to the next round, and if his range includes 33 then folding is probably -EV

Do most players instacall KK here given the fact that the shortstack only has 11 BBs left? If you put the player on say any PP or a big ace you're roughly 75-25. 25% of the time you get no ticket and 75% of the time you guarantee it. I suppose you're about 60%ish to get one at the moment? Am I way off here. Seems like a call alright but I'm not sure how close it is.

She cant go to the WSOP anyway as she is only 19.

There's a bit more than that to take into account here. For one I've already know the player is poor and therefore the likelihood that she can beat my KK pre-flop is very slim. If you could see people's cards you'd call in a heart beat. It's a very poor play from the lady as what can she expect to beat? If she flat calls the raise she can see the flop and then could have got a substantial amount from me anyway. But here she's putting her automatic place at risk. She played it because she thought... ooohhh I've got a pair! That's the type of player she was. She got involved in hands rather than just bossing with her chips. As initially her chip lead was 3-1 over myself and the other player. If she had put this "Move" on the third placed player I'd say fine... But had I won the pot she would have been in third spot.

I think the mods erred in moving this thread as it's not here as a bad beat moan... but a discussion on final table stratergy.

Lol yes I did wonder that also.

    Thanks for moving this lafortezza.

It was an interesting situation because the third placed player made it very clear that he didn't want to get involved. And The CL was, it seemed to me, much more aggresive against myself. Although of course that depended on what cards she had. [I certainly don't think there was any collusion] The blinds were too low to let the third place be blinded out.

I do think that I didn't raise enough with the Kings... But that was probably due to being more involved with the cash game I was playing.

The other interesting point is that I wouldn't have called if it was an actual WSOP ticket at stake.

But I would if it was the final table of the main event itself. :D
