Eh yeah i realise its pretty sad of me to be watching but i just saw germaine greer being interviewed by miriam (cant remember her last name) and lulu on too.

she was asking ridiculous questions to germaine who was giving awful answers and also saying critising comments about married mothers and that its not an option or something. that woman is terribel. she certainly doesnt sound like a 'feminine icon' to me? she sounded full of regret but trying to cover it up.. hmm

next thing daniel o donnel comes on! hehe. he says his mothers pancakes are sweet and that if germaine cooked pancakes they would be bitter..!!! :D:D so funny.

he looked well, and im no fan of either but i thought it was good interview with daniel. he came accross well.

but that miriam, i always thot she was good on that primetime show, but for her chat show i saw a bit of Twat Kenny type of embaressing and ridiculous questions coming acrross from her... i hope she changes her tune.

for example silly questions like would things have been different if this had happened instead.. eh hello thats like asking if u got the 41bus instead of the 43 would u have got into town quicker and how wud u feel? hmm

    anyway miriam looked welll.

Eh, that would be feminist icon! Although she's more of a fisher for soundbite attention nowadays tbh.

I watched about 10 minutes of the show and thought it was pretty horrible. That feminist one talked a lot of crap, for one thing. Dinosaurs like her need to be kept off the telly. Fair play to Daniel O'Donnell; peddler of watered-down middle-of-the-road crap music that he may be; he put that bitter hag in her place :)

    Absolute garbage.
    Desperate ****e.
RTE should be ashamed of making such tripe.
3 old hags warbling along in a decrepid studio.
Then they throw wee Daniel into the mix.

shes not a chat show host, she's a journalist, a current affairs broadcaster, but them why did we expect RTE to know this with Plank and jug ears already firmly established as RTE's "Talk show Hosts" there is not one of the three of them would make it on a real networks chat show, the irish are so bad at picking decent chat show hosts.
and the top 5 worst irish chat show hosts are
    5. Tubridy
    4. Dunphy
    3. Plank
    2. O'Callaghan
and the worst ever irish chat show host is
    1. Brendan Feckin Courtney

Is there any Irish chat show host you actually do like JR? :D

Personally Ive never had a real problem with Kennys interviewing style, its just more his choices of guest. Dunphy was king. Problem with Pat is that when Dunphy had his show, you could turn on TV3 and see Bob Geldof speaking his mind, or Robert Fisk. Switch over to RTE 1 and see Brian McFaddden and the now ex wife waffling on about the kids and how much they loved each other. Its tv for the retarded

    And your mas

But they just won't kill it off. Chat shows are so 70s/80s no-one has managed to find a way to reinvent this particular wheel.

    Mike.

I agree to the first part, and no to the second.

Pat Kenny is very good doing his morning radio show, it shows him to be quite knowledgable on most issues, but he can't do fluff. On the radio, he can talk to a politician, any journalist, doctor, priest etc, with great handling and skill. Because the LLS has to do fluff, that is his downfall. Music can be an issue too with him.

As for Dunphy, once he interviewed his little black book that he built up on The Last Word, he really had no-one else to go to next. He got all the guests that he liked on, but with Dunphy, that might not stretch too far. You can do that on the radio, as its news, but on a TV chat show, it's different, "its that man again, he always has him on." Plus, you'd end up like a Ulick O'Connor recurring character on the LLS of years gone by.

Also, The Dunphy Show, if he wanted, would be still on the air, if they aired live on a Saturday night, and not crash and burn against RTÉ 1.

There might not have been a Tubridy Tonight show then..... lets ponder on that point for a while......

I havn't seen it and I don't intend watching it. Regardless of who is hosting it an Irish chat show will probably be poor as the average quality of guest will be dreadful. I doubt that Pat Kenny has much choice due to the shortage of good guests.

Her presenting skills outside of PrimeTime are questionable at best. Although, I'm only basing this on "Test the Nation". Maybe her own show is better.

The main problem i had with it was that it was recorded ages ago and then it's presented like it's a live show (which it should be).

O'Callaghans main qualification for presenting a light chat show is that she has a nice rack, good teeth, not much else I'm afraid

I think she is far better then the rest of them i.e. Dunphy, Kenny, Tubrity and Courtney but that isn't saying much.

I think she would be better suited to the Late Late Show. She should be more willing to ask the hard questions on her show as well as the nice light ones.

Charlie McCreevy's interview last year was a piece of fluffy hosted by one of RTE's top current affairs broadcasters. If politicans want fluff they should understand that a statement about how many houses the own etc goes down well on a chat show. :D espically from the unelected politians like EU Commissioners.

She had Eamonn Dunphy in tears last year and she gets Daniel O'Donnell angry. :) lol

It was really bad TV. I think she asks terrible Questions.
For example she asked Danniel O'donnell "which do you prefer being married or single?"!!
she also asked him loads of questions about his mother.. wtf?
Another thing is the quality of the guests is low- Washed up and / or z-listers.
This makes for a poor viewing experience.

Is Miriam really tall or are all her guests short? Anybody know what height she is?

What questions would we like to ask Daniel???
I mean he is suppose to be a clean cut country singer who likes his mammys pancakes...oh the questions she should have asked.

    Yes Miriam is fairly tall.
