Andy and Red meeting on the beach!

wtf is wrong with this kind of post? it's on topic

I don't mind some of these lists, but generally it considerably lowers the intelligence levels of film forums. There are so many other ways to discuss films and every thing about them without resorting to what's the best this and worst that. In saying that, when I saw this thread title I did have a little think. Basically though, instead of any decent conversation the thread will turn into a 40+ page of people just listing movie titles. No one will care about that bar the OP and after the first page even he will grow tired of it. In short...it's a film forum, give us something to really get our teeth into.

    :D

Do not start posting threads such as:

    * Listing what movie you saw last night , e.g: What movie did you watch last night?
    * Posting Top 5/10/Whatever or Favorite threads. Example.
    * Getting other posters to either guess the name of a movie (example here) or where other posters are asked to guess a quote from a movie (example of this here)

These threads contribute nothing of value. This is a forum for discussing movies in its various formats and threads like those merely end up being one or two-line posts of no value. Spam = Ban.

which is how this thread is shaping up cause of people just listing films...

    Indeed O'Neill.

Another thing is that these kind of threads seem to breed immitators. Someone creates a "Best Horror" thread, and pretty soon someone else will post another "Best Drama" or a "Worst Comedy" and pretty soon it amounts to a whole pile of spam.

Anyway, it's not a major issue, but we've already had a "Films your ashamed to love" thread and "Movies that you watched and want your 2 hours back!" and already we've got this thread.

ah, I didn't think of it like that, well if this thread spawns a load of others akin to it, you have my formal apology

Ferris Buellers Day Off... the dance in the parade at the end is the icing on the cake for a fantastically upbeat movie... even Cameron's temporary downbeat attitude just put Ferris into stark contrast... beautiful movie.

That and Evil Dead 2 and 3.

I have to agree with the mods on this one. Just about finished one page and look at it already. Its turned into people listing movies without a shred of discussion on why you picked this or that etc... Chances are people will simply post not caring about what went before them.

    JOKE ANSWER:
    Requiem for a Dream

    SERIOUS ANSWER:
I'll say Whisper of the Heart. It's a Studio Ghibli film, probably one of their lesser known ones as it's not as fantastical as most of their output because it's just the story of a young girl who spends a lot of her time in the libary and notices that a boy has already checked all the same books that she has checked out.

It's a very simple story... but it's wonderfully observerd and really captures the spirit of a blossoming romance perfectly.

I think I would have to say Almost Famous. Its a great coming of age movie and one of my favs of all time. Its hard not to love the scene on the coach when they all start singing "Tiny Dancer". Just everything about it is uplifting including the ending. Brilliant soundtrack too.

If I'm feeling glum or down, whatever! I watch something like Ice Age, simply because it's funny, and easy going. It doesn't have long complicated story lines and I've seen it loads of times so I don't really have to pay any attention whatsoever, and I can stop watching it if I feel like it. I would also pick The Commitments because its so bloody funny and it really is a, 'Feel Good Movie'. The story-line is simple enough and, again, I've seen it at least 50 times. I love the music, the characters...ugh! Brilliant movie, as a said before, it really is a feel good movie:D

I was saving this for the "films you're ashamed to like" but I'll just mentioned it here. The film is 'Angus'

Angus is teen movie about this fat dorky kid who's good at Science and fair at football (or something like that). He dreams of taking the blond cheerleader to the prom and then getting into science school. I won't spoil it for you by telling you how it turns out.

As a bonus Angus also has George C Scott and Dawson from Dawsons Creek. I mean what more could you possibly want from a movie!

    Angus = top film!

Very funny... also got a very decent soundtrack!

For me it has to be sneakers, technically a 90s movie but embodies that cheesy 80s idealism.

Ahh I really like The Majestic with Jim Carrey. I had no idea what to expect when I bought it on impulse. I sat down and was really pleased. It's somewhat old fashioned, and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a straight role for Jim Carrey and he's backed up with an excellent cast. It really took me back to how I enjoyed movies when I was a kid, there was a real sense of innocence.

For me I would have to say it's Cool Runnings . Got the wonderful John Candy in it , some good characters in it some great one liners and
if you dont have a little tear in your eye when they walk the bob sleigh over the finish line at the end then you my friend have a black black heart
    .

Im slightly confused by the topics development considering its title is "The Ultimate Feel-good movie?" yet most of the answers are from films and scenes to which most consider sad...;)

Anywho, i find any film that is enthralling/emotionally draining/on the edge of your seat action a "feel-good" movie because i generally walk away happy.

So to answer the question i would have to say "LOTR's Return of the King" or "Snatch"

"ROTK" because its the conclusion to one of the greatest stories ever told.

"Snatch" because it is an easy going film that has its laughs and fun. Its kewl! :D
