ive just setyp a new (not new, but better than before) computer and im havin some problems with resolution..

i have an ATI RAGE 128 PRO Ultra GL AGP graphics card which supports 1600X1200 resolution but when i pick my screen squashes in this way >< and its defo not 1600X1200 its more like 800x1200. im confused because on my old computer which had a generic old nvidia card it supported 1600x1200 easily. i have the driver installed for my new card (which was a bitch to find because for some reason ATI dont support this card) so i cant see the problem, can someone help?

    Thanks
    Sven

Have you tried a driver for the monitor first? Does it even do 1600*1200?

You shouldnt need a driver for your monitor. Have you got the latest drivers downloaded for your video card?

Do you have a CRT monitor you may need to calibrate it at the 1600x1200 resolution to display properly using the monitors own controls.

As for the driver the last Rage pro series driver for WinXP can be gotten at this link.

You do if your monitor can handle high res and hertz above windows defaults.

nice one, for some reason the monitors horizontal size squashed when i set it to higher resolution so i made it bigger using the monitors own controls and now its great thanks everyone

If it's an old one (i.e. >5 years) you probably will.
