Bringing drink over

    Dunno is this is the right forum... I am moving from Cork to Wales next month going over on the stenaline ferry, Now i want to bring over some drink i have at home..cause you cant buy it over there what is the law is bringing drink over etc...my car is going to be full as i am bringing my room over more or less.. would they stop me from say bringing 10- 20 bottles of beer over?

    Last time I looked Wales was in the European Union, so unless you are transporting the beer for sale then no problem.

    Unless they're full of smack or something there will be no problem. I know lads who fill horse boxes full of booze and bring them back from France on the boat. No one will sweat it over twenty bottles.

    Provided its not for resale (and therefore avoidance of excise duties) you can bring as much as you want. UK Customs don't really check the boats from Ireland anyway since the excise rates here are roughly the same so it's not profitable to buy alcohol here and illegally resale it in the UK. They keep an eye out on the french ferry routes though.
