why'd ye double buy in carlos

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭Four of a kind

    hey

The reason we doubled the buy in was because we got alot of players who said that the sunday 50 euro freezeouts we used to have attracted more loose/bad/calling station type players. The blinds used to be 25 mins long with a 8k starting stack.
So we decided that we'd up the entry fee to 90 euros, give a 10k stack and have 30 min blinds all the way. That way, there won't be maniacs in every hand(well not as many :D ) and it guarantees a nice long, slow structered tournament....which favours the good players in the long run.

We've had two 90 euro freezeouts so far and everyone said it was a 100% better game.

    Hope that answers you question?

    Carlo

    Hi Carlo,

I'd say you're better off with a €50 regular game, better off having 80 players @ €50, than 20@€90 .... even the 20 that turn up will be disappointed by turnout/prizepool and not come back.
In fact you might be better doing a €25 ... one top/re-buy ... get the punters in, create a buzz. They'll all spend the €50.

Your structure was fine, and calling stations should be welcomed with open arms....someone is going to need more chips pretty soon.

The 80 players we got was because it was good friday:cool:

Also, we run 3 weekly 50 euro freezeouts....Tubbercurry, Carrick on Shannon and Boyle....so a 90euro Freezeout every second Sunday varies it up abit.

If you mention the word "re-buy" in boyle you might as well say give up....you'd have less than 10 turning up. We tried it and failed miserably.
