The thread about "One Hundred Years of Solitude" has reminded me of the pleasure South American writers give. My favourite is Mario Vargos Llosa, who has a wicked sense of humour. A list of favourite writers here, please, with references to themes that inspire and entertain.

Pablo Neruda's poetry.....lifts the heart, elevates the soul.....the two great themes, love and death.
