OK, €70+10 Freezeout, GJP last night in Drogheda

    Hand 1

hadn't played a hand first level (what's new:) ) have 5500 of original 6000 left
imo two other good/decent players on table, others are average/poor
    blinds 75/150 .... i am on button
two late limpers, I have JJ
raise to 800 , BB (looks like a decent player but hasn't played a hand yet, so I'm guessing that, and looks like he is considering raising) calls, as does one of the limpers
    pot 2550
    i have 4700 left
    flop 7 8 4 all spades (I have J spades)
bb checks, as does LP, I bet 2000
bb moves all in, he has me covered, LP folds
your call ? ... comments on play.

    Hand 2

I am moved to a new table.
There are two larges stacks at table from players I wouldn't really have rated from before, but I haven't played Drogheda much lately.
Scotty is on my right, we take a break immediately.
Scotty is on new table, he was telling me at break about how they got the stacks playing Bingo, makes sense because I heard a few 'oohs and ahs' from table earlier.

Keep quiet for 20 mins or so, get a feel for the table
3 players to Scotty's right are calling everything (Lets' just call them Villians for arguments sake.)
    calling raises with muck, 5 8 , 8 4, 7 8 soooted or not, it didn't matter etc...

    I get A10 on Button
    blinds 150/300
    2 limpers
I'm sure I'm ahead, and my Ace is the strongest out there, otherwise the villians would have raised
I raise to 1800, wouldn't mind taking the pot now really
BB calls (loose villian) limpers fold
    pot... 4200 ...... flop comes 10 6 3
    flush draw there
    so i have tptk
BB checks, I bet 2500 leaving about 12k behind... he pushes all in for about 11k, making it another 8500 to call

    your move? Comments?

    Hand 3
    ok, 3 mins later
(in the mean time, I have lost another 1k bluffing on the river
but won some blinds so i'm about 11k or so)

    blinds 150/300

I get KK in the BB
    two black ones
    2 villians in LP limp
scotty makes up BB (i think, could be wrong, irrelevant to hand anyway)
    i raise to 1900
1 villian calls on the button
    flop comes 7 5 2 spades
pot 4500 or so, I bet 3000 leaving 6k or so behind
Villian moves all in for his last 7500, making it 4500 to call for me.

    Your Call/Comments?

    For me it's:

    1. Fold
    2. Call
    3. Call

    Hand 1
i think its safe enough to fold here this is often a made flush an overpair with a spade and a AQ/AK one of them a spade your a long way behind two of them and not that far ahead of 2 overcards with a spade

    Hand 2
I would be tempted to call if players are as loose as you say cause that is often JT
Do you have info on wether these loose fools where betting there bad hands or calling with there bad hands ?
but if i had any respect for the players i lay down

    Hand 3
    afraid you have to call

    I'm calling all three.

Hand 1: Trickiest of the lot, but I think the way the hand plays out thus far, villain most likely has AsKx or AxKs. Overpairs to your jacks are a possibility, but getting 3:1 on your money I think you're priced in. If you're not getting such good odds a fold becomes a possibility. Only comments on the hand are that maybe a flop bet of 1500 is slightly better, but I dont think it makes much difference.

Hand 2: TPTK on a flushing board against a loose idiot = Call for me.

Hand 3: Overpair and second nut flush draw here means call for me again.

    Hand 1
    Fold

    Hand 2
I think I fold here, Villian can have anything here by the sounds of it. He could easily have 10J, KJ or a set just as easily but if you have 2 or 3 other players with large stacks you recognise as bad players on your table aswell I think I wait for a better spot to put my chips in.

    Hand 3
    Call

    edit to amend hand 2

    Well Mick,

    Hand 1.
You say that BB looked like a decent/tight player who had'nt played a hand so far. He obviously knows that you were in the same boat as him and that you were'nt in the pot with crap.
With the flop of 3 rags and all spades wit me holding the J spades...i think I would have to fold. If he had AK, AQ(and one of those a spade) he probably thought that was good enough to push you off. He might have hit a set on the other hand and was scared of the spades.
I take it you folded? Me been a tight little be-atch would have let it go.

You playing on Mayo team next month? I was trying to sort Jack Kelleher out with a team but I don't know if its possible at this late stage.

    Hey Carlo,

I was speakin to Jack last night on the phone, hes now on the longford team. (I think Keith put him in touch with me)

As for the hands in hand one going by your read he wanted to reraise preflop and he check raised all in I probably find a fold here too , though tough one with so many of your chips in the middle but yeh probably drop it

Hand 2 going by the description of the players here I would think its a pretty standard call as only hands to worry about are sets here with the way the hand played but more likely is you have him dominated and drawing very thin so im callin here

Hand 3, yeh Call for me too

Hand 1 is a fold for me, a tight player thinks of re-raising then flat calls, then c/raises all in, for me thats either a higher overpair with the flush draw or else he's hit trips

hand 2 is close, very loose player pushing, maybe you have him outkicked though maybe hes hit top two pair:rolleyes:

hand 3 i'm not sure again though maybe he's just getting sick of your 6x BB raises :p

Limpers in don't forget. If 6xBB is the going rate...that's the price you charge.

edit: ahh sorry, thought it was just the sb completing, i think i find a call here though it's not easy if the villains range is that wide, does he call large raises with low pp's/low suited connectors?

I am guessing by the stacks involved that it went like this?

Hand 1 - Call and win
    Hand 2 - fold
    Hand 3 - ???

What I think you should ahve done based on this info is:

Hand 1 - I am very tempted to call here. You could either be behind with outs, ahead but have to dodge big spade, or you could be fcked. You are getting about 5-1 which is about right though and I probably would call unless I had a specific reason not to.

Hand 2 - Yuck. Hard one. This type of player could easily have hit 2 pair on this flop, or could be playing with a flush draw/straight draw. I think though against this type of player you are definitely ahead often enough to justify a call.

Hand 3 - Call, nothing else to be done here.

    1. Fold

    2. Somthing is fishy, why bet so big? i'm leaning towards a fold.

    3. What a flop! Call.

5-1??? Is it not about 3-1?

for some reason I was counting some extra chips? nearly 3.5/1 it is then. 9250 in there, 2700 to call.

Hmmm, probably fold then, but as with all of these it is hard to say without being there.

    1) Fold
    2) Fold - no need to get involved here - just take his chips off him later...
    3) Insta Call

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,467 ✭✭✭Norwich Fan Rob

hand 1 - easy fold except u are getting a great price and have half your stack in, therefore tough fold, depends on tourney structure, if theres a big premium on getting a stack early i call, if its a long one, and 2.5k left is still fine, i fold.

hand 2 - i suspect your ahead of a smaller 10, or needing to dodge a draw, that said, im 50/50 as to whether i actually call this in a game.

    hand 3 - definite call.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,696 ✭✭✭Hectorjelly

hand 1 is a easy call, 3:1 with an overpair, if its not good your flush draw probably is or vice versa.

hand 2 is a super easy call, you floped the nuts and got some moron to chk raise you, nh.

hand 3 I would have my chips in the pot in miliseconds

    hand 1:
i would play it a bit different but as played i would make a crying call expecting to be behind often but pot odds are good.

    Hand 2
    call

    hand 3
call like u have never called before.

    OK

Hand 1, I called after a good think.

He had 10 10 (inc 10 spades) .. JJ holds up. Didn't think this could be let go due to speed of tournament.

    Hand 2, I folded

He said afterwards that he had a OE straight draw (which means he called with 45) and a flush draw, so in hindsight probably a bad fold. Didn't want to risk big stack on TPTK, when tbh I hadn't a clue what he was holding.

    Hand 3, obvious call

    He had 78 (no spades :D ) turn 7, river 8 happy Days:rolleyes:

thats not a reason to fold. Hes loose and you flopped top pair ace kicer in a raised pot, thats all you need to know.

I know Drogheda players have a bit of a rep here on boards but last night I saw some of the worst poker ever played. The highlight for me was when a guy went all in with a Kh Qh 4d flop and got called by.......wait for it.......
6d 3d   The same caller here had previously called with 64s on a flop of A 10 7 with none of his suit (its amazing how often you'll catch two pair if you stay in 'til the river. EVERY time). The three amigos that Culchie refers to above must have seen 99% of the flops. Its very hard to play against this sort of play. All-in is the only thing that will push them off (if your lucky)

I finished 10th and only played 4 hands. One hand I had AKs UTG and raised about 4x. Small blind called (I forget who else) flop was 7 4 9. SB bet 2000 ( about 1.5x pot. I folded. She turns over 74s. Now playing 74 is one thing but then trying to justify it with "ah they were suited" really annoys me. Was she going to presume 7 high would be the best flush?? I think you saw my frustration on that one Mick.

On the 3 hands above Mick, 1st one is very difficult. The guy is quiet good (redzer1 off antesup forum) If he was putting me all in I'd fold I think. Hand 2 I'd have called in a second. The guy tends to bet big when he has chips but no hand and tends to slow play any time he catches a flop. Hand 3 I'd have called instantly as well. 1) because I'd think I'm way in front and 2) because its a routine move by that player. You were very unlucky. He did it to me a few weeks ago when I caught a set on the flop and checked. He went all in with A high and caught runner runner flush:( . He also calls any two cards that can make a straight "connectors" (eg. J8s are suited connectors) which I think is very funny. I was slagging him about it a few weeks ago and two of the locals at the table agreed with him

Its a pity the snapper wasn't there last night. He loves:p play like that!! There'd be bodies everywhere:D
