I know there has been a lot of discussion in the past, but much of the info on this procedure is quite old. Our Pace box is just one year old now, so now it's out of warranty I was thinking of getting a new 250GB drive.

I seem to recall issues with certain specs and/or brands of drive running hot, so the system fan would run almost constantly, and wanted to make sure I got the right drive without this issue. Does anyone have up-to-date info on what to go for?

Samsung Spinpoint drives work like a dream with Pace v2 boxes...mine is upgraded to 160GB for nearly 18 months now without a single problem or failed recording. Fan does stay on but the noise is not audible unless TV is off and room is quiet...Fan always on helps keeps box very cool which is one of the reasons I think I have had no issues..

I recall some time ago that, following an upgrade to a larger disk, the Sky+ software did not recognise the extra space available. Even though it allowed you to make use of the disk space, it showed a misleading figure for remaining space. Is this still the case with the latest software?

Nope, I changed from the standard 40GB to 120GB and the planner shows the correct free space since day one.
