Anyone think Bruce just seemed to be enjoying that hand in crotch a bit too much? but just wouldn't have said it to his face:rolleyes:

Notice its a punch in the nuts, not the face (that would just expose Bruce to a triangle choke)

    Peace

Even with my limited experience I can see Bruce asking for a guilloteene on his setup for the doubleleg...

Bruce was the worlds first MMA guy!

Look at the opening fight of Enter The Dragon...
he finishes the fight with a ground fighting submission, and he
even got on those tight black bender underpants you lads like to wear!!! LOL!!! ;-)

I never saw Bruce Lee in this light before...it looks like he's giving the guy the worlds greatest HandJ*B after the close up.

Wasn't there a Jeet Kune Do book called "Entering to Trapping to Grappling"?

Bruce certainly trained in all ranges, one of his students bringing wrestling with him, Larry Hartsell?

For the movie "Rapid Fire" with Brandon Lee, a lot of training was done with Hartsell to bring "something new" to the screen. He wanted to show Muay Thai with more grappling in the fights also. I enjoyed the movie myself, probably plenty of technical flaws but it's a movie, not an instructional. I'm not surprised Bruce would nut punch the guy anyway, he often advocated "Bil Jee"?, eye striking as well.

He also used the first type of MMA Gloves in that fight!! (With Samo Hung BTW!!)

Anyway! I would'int judge his moive fights as a whole assessment of his skills! We all know that strikes in moives need to be thrown long and wide for the camera!!

Well first of all, whatever works right?

    Second.
I read in a book on the making of Enter the Dragon, that Bruce actually got in a fight with a chinese extra,(I know, we have all heard rumours this and rumours that! But I believe this to be true).Anyways, Bruce was victorious in the end.The guy who seen it,among others, (I think it was Bolo, can't remember his real name) said that Bruce fought completely different in real life.

Just thought I'd throw that in anyways.

Are you the IT guy from The Office?

Bruce lee didnt "once" get in a fight with "an" extra. Rather they were fairly regular. Most of the extras on enter the dragon were gansters.

One story goes that bruce regular broke their ribs, and on one occasion kicked a guy in the face so fast that the guy laughed while spitting out his teeth, not knowing he had been hit. Which I think is lore.

Linda Lee also describes Lee's "challenge" fight (the one highlighted in "Dragon") as Bruce chasing the Kung Fu dude around his kwoon, catching him, taking him down and submitting him.

    Peace

Bruce Lee was a hot tempered scrapper on the streets.

In his hong kong youth, there were regular back alley challenges and fights against other kung fu kwoons. he was getting into trouble with the cops for fights, and that is one of the reason his father sent him to the USA.

Lee beat in his teens the Hong Kong British School Boy boxing champ in a boxing tourney.

He founght a few challenges in USA. the one Fianna is talking about was against Wong Jack Man in San Francisco, over the fact lee was teaching kung fu to white people. ( a big no no then). he also fought a okinanwian Karate stylist, karate man went into Cat Stance, and lee basically punched the head off him. plus a few more he was in along the way.

Forget the stuff in Movies, outside of that, his real developments in MA, such as JKD and the training methods, were light years ahead of anyone else at the time.

It's seems to me that to the average person who isn't clued into the likes of the above stories fact or BS about Lee think of him as a bit of a, is joke a strong word? It's just seem the film aspect, due to it's choreography, takes away from the true MAist in Lee and this is what people focus on. Parodical characters like him in video games don't help either...

I think people who come into MA to train and do not read about other systems, tend to see Bruce Lee as a "joke". even on this forum there was many debates about this.

Even before he was a movie star.. Bruce was a top Wing Chun King Fu guy who was fanatical about training.

I have read alot about Lee and JKD... if anyone is interested read
"Tao of Jeet Kune Do" my Bruce Lee.
also recommend is Bruce Lee Fighting Methods Vol 1 - 4. this give an idea of where Lee was training wise in late 1960s... and this would have been cutting edge then.

Also Dan Insanto, Bruces top student wrote a sort if bio of Bruce and the training they did. which sort of documents this training and how it evloved... its quite an interesting read IMO. (cannot remember exact title of book)

so get an example of people who train JKD as Bruce did JKD please see
