I'm in a bit of trouble at the moment and would really appreciate any advice/information anyone can offer.

I'm using the pill as my main form of contraceptive, as well as for bad periods, etc. I'm just finished my week break and am due to start a new packet tomorrow morning (well, this morning if you consider the time).
However, I don't have a new packet to start as I completely forgot to collect my new prescription and now don't have access to my doctor or any older prescriptions until Sunday (assuming anywhere is open, Monday if not).

I'd like to know a couple of things.
    1. What are my options? Is it possible to somehow get an emergency supply from somewhere for a couple of days to tide me over or am I completely stuck?
    2. What effect will missing the next couple of days have on the contraceptive side of it? Am I in any danger? I have had sex in the last 7 days relying on the pill alone for contraception. I know it will completely **** up my skin, etc. but I'm just a teensy bit more worried about the other aspect of it :p

If I were to manage to get hold of a new packet on Monday I would want to wait til the Friday to start taking them, as I don't want to upset the rhythm I have going at the moment. Would it be safe to do this?

Thanks in advance for any help, I really need it!

just go into a chemist and explain to the pharmacist what has happened. I went away last weekend with the bf and forgot to bring the pill with me, stopped off at a chemist and explained and they gave me a packet of my normal. she did try to ring my doctor though. Best of luck

This happened to me before and the local family planning clinic agreed to let me have a pack and then I had to go back and get the prescription a couple of days after. Of course they were really nice and some people won't want to know but worth a try maybe. Don't take a different brand for a couple of days, I don't think that it'l work. If you are too late to pick them up I'd just accept that you may not be protected for the next couple of months and use condoms until you know you're definately safe.
On the contraceptive side if u're worried about sperm surviving and making you pregnant from the last couple of days - I'd say very very unlikely. Since you are probably still covered up to now and plus you are just finished your period - an egg isn't released until about 14 days (counting the first day of your period) into your cycle.
If u do get a pack next week I think it'l disrupt the cycle you're on at the moment anyway and ideally the packs tell you to start on the day of your next period so I'd say if you do start Friday buy a big pack of condoms and be extra careful for the next two months - small price to pay.
    Goodluck :)

Explain to your pharmacist & ask them if they could give you a pack and deduct that pack from your next prescription. I have done this a couple of times.

    Worth a Shot!

If you use the same chemist on a regular basis for your percription thwy will have a record of it and of who your dr is and they should be able to sort something out for you.

Hopefully you have managed to get sorted at this stage. If possible go to the pharmacist that provided your last pill packet on script as they will have a record. Most chemists will be accommodating enough though, important to start taking it again when you're meant to.

    Thanks very much everyone.

I do know about the thing with your regular pharmacist and such, but the problem is that I can't get to my regular pharmacist (right next door to my doctor....) at the moment, so I won't be able to obtain an old prescription and I don't have one handy.

I didn't think a pharmacist who'd never met me before would consider doing what my regular one might, do you think it's worth a shot or am I clutching at straws?
In any case it's too late for tonight, but if I can get it tomorrow I'll only have started a day late as opposed to a week or whatever. Family planning clinic isn't open here on Saturdays. Great idea that is, right when people are most likely to need the morning after pill...

And of course it goes without saying that I'll be extremely careful with proper protection for the next while regardless of when I get it :)

P.S. Strokesfan, by rhythm I meant the timing of my periods. At the moment I've arranged it so that I never bleed over the weekends.

Ok ring your usual chemist and explain and ask can you get a local chemist to ring them and confirm your details.
The find a local chemist that will help.

Most chemists will give emergency pills (same way they will for inhalers etc), but you will have to pay for it (even if you have a medical card, but you can claim it back later).
All they will have to do is phone your GP to get your info before they can dispense the medication.

Most pharmacists will give you a packet if in dire need. If you have your old packet with dose instructions and your name and address on it that will help, but is not necessary.

    Thanks a million all.
I did as suggested and went to a chemist offering the number of my usual chemist and doctor for them to verify what I was claiming, and they gave them to me no problem after a brief chat with my pharmacist. Sorted :)
