right ive been looking at capri's and sending a lot of e-mails . but one thing ive seen is that a good few 1976-73 and esp the 2.8i models have had the engines taken out and cosworth engines put in there place .

how dose this affect vrt ? is it classed as a younger car ?

I dont think so, because it has the original chassis and number. The date when it was first registered is I believe what they go on.Those guys who build the elenors just use the bare chassis and replace everything else but their still classed as a classic car.

As dub tom said, the age is based on the chassis, not the bits on the chassis. Will affect insurance.

I actually read an article recently that the Californian authories are clamping down on this big time over there. They've gone after Boyd Coddington as he's considered the one of the higher profile builders over there, claiming that because of the amount of new parts (including chassis's) used in he's cars they can no longer be considered classics and are infact being illegally registered as classics in an attempt to avoid the emmisson controls over there...........

Oh ya he's TV show provided all the evidence they needed.............
