    I would love to see:

BOD and Trimble in the centre,
Horgan and Murphy on the wings
D'arcy at 15 (I know he has experience at full back would love to see him have a run with the ball) :)

It's a perfect backline I think, there's time to turn Trimble into an inside centre, Murphy is a proven flop at fullback for Ireland, Horgan is consistently doing the business for us and D'Arcy is ideal for full back, good defence, unlike Murphy, has the finishing ability, runs good lines, his fielding skills aren't shabby. Everyone is happy plus Murphy is less burdened on the wing.

So does Boss have a place in this backline of yours then?

I was a fan of Murphy but I don't think he plays any good for Ireland. Too many mistakes and not enough positives in his international game.

That's a nice back division there, OP.

It would be nice to see what happens if D'Arcy actually gets some time with the ball.

I didn't see an Ulster match all season, does Trimble play inside center for them? How has he performed?

Doesn't matter until we get new halfbacks.

I like that back line, but 'd actually like to see Dempsey back at full-back for Ireland. He was absolutely excellent for Leinster all last season - and didn't get a chance on the Irish team. I would have been a critic of his attacking abilities for ages, but he's certainly become a fantastic full-back - defensively and offensively - in recent times.

D'arcy could then be used as an impact sub for most of the back-line positions.

I dunno, I felt Dempsey was shown up offensively against Munster in the semi, it one thing to be great against the Borders (say) but top level I'm not convinced.

He's more solid than Murphy and is even attacking better nowadays.

    11 - Murphy
    12 - Trimble
    13 - O'Driscoll
    14 - Horgan
    15 - Dempsey

D'Arcy as sub for any of those positions.

d'arcy will start at 12... he is brilliant there - his unseen defensive work is top notch and his leg strength is magnificant on the crash ball. He will always make yards as well as making numerous clean breaks throughout a game

Leo, it's GORDON d'Arcy were talking about here.... ;)

IMHO he's still living off the reputation from 6N in 2003. He has the potential to be a great player again, but he's certainly not a consistently good player.

Dàrcy in 03 was able to avail of the extra space after the success of o`driscoll and flourished in the extra room, at full back he would get this space again but he desperatly needs confidence.

also with regards to murphy he is one of the best natural skillfull player the county has ever had but i completely agree he has all to often failed to perform in the "other" green jersey.

id like to see campbell get a few starts for the national team he is the only natural attacking scrum-half around at the moment, stringer has definetly improved from here of late but is imo not at the same level as campbell, this should hold inside defenders and delay drift-defenders therfore creating more room outside.

D'Arcy was also playing outside centre in 04 but with the switch to inside he's not AS effective.

D'arcy has admitted himself that he 'loses concentration' when given space at full-back. After hearing the man himself say that, I wouldn't dream of starting him at full-back! I think Trimble has shown himself to have the strength in the tackle and speed of thought and foot to make a class centre. I'd love to see him get that chance.

Murphy hasn't performed to his potential at full-back, and shouldn't be an automatic starter there because of reputation or potential. I'd like to see him on the wing - or on the bench. I'd vote for Dempsey over Murphy every time, based on recent performance.

I'd also like to see Campbell or Boss get a few more games. Boss has impressed me, from what little I've seen of him. He's a far more threatening presence at no.9 than Stringer. If nothing else, it'll keep Stringer on his toes and improve competition for places.

would be worth trying at least, changing about would be good, horgan on the wing is working out much better than inside center. well as long as they do better than last year

got to agree, its only recently stringer has started breakign and developing/expanding his game which i think is no coincidence to boss and cambells emergence...
