In one of these tournements, is it better to get your other half of chips as early as possible or have them in reserve?
Now obviously, getting them early may increase your winnings as you will have more to bet with, but on the other hand, it can lead you to giving them away quite sharpish.
Just interested in different people's view's on this.

Also, are you tied to 1/2 for the duration of the hand or can you midway through the hand call for the other half. Might be a good strategy as you could advertise a monster with someone in a pot with ya......

It depends on your style really. Some people prefer to have them all as soon as possible and play it as a freezeout for them, whereas others like to keep them in reserve. Usually I keep them in reserve until I go below a certain % of my first lot (usually 50%-66% depending on stacksize).

There are advantages and disadvantages to each, there is no perfect strategy.

You should focus more on maximising the potential of a big hand than being afraid of going broke. Therefore I prefer to get the chips immediately.

You can only get the second lot of chips between hands.

You can call for them during a hand, you just can't use the chips during the hand.

Works well to induce calls from SE ipod/cappers ;)

I don't play live really all that often and I've never played in a double chance, so e.g. in the fitz €50 double chance, is my max spend in this tourney €50+reg or is it like a rebuy to get your additional chips?

    Thanks
    S

max spend is 50+reg(5). You have already paid for your extra chips up front, that is why it is different from a rebuy, well that and the fact that you don't have to be out of chips to get your extra.

Always take your chips straight away. Don't listen to megafish like 5starpool.

You should usually take the chips straight away imo but there are exceptions.

If no one else at the table takes them then there is little value in taking them.

If you intend to play a very lag game with your first half in an attemp to accumulate, then keeping the second half in reserve is not a bad idea.

Just get the half go in all in every 3rd hand regardless of hand or postion
(P.S remember that week on week to change the number from 3 to 4 or 2 or 5 other wise the regulars will catch on )
When your T4 has cracked AA and your 85 KK and you are cl
Call for the balance and slow down maybe go all in every 5th hand
Of course if this doesnt work get your 2nd chance and sit tight waiting for AA until you are all in on your BB
Both these strategys are quite popular in the SE
