Does anyone have a list of public bittorrent trackers?

I needed one in a hurry yesterday but wasn't able to find one in time and don't use a client with an internal tracker.

Hardly, since in this case he's referring to the 1.4 Beta patch for Battlefield 2.

    qft

how did you glean that information from the above post?
also, ill consider hosting the patch for you if you can link me to a public tracker that doesnt contain wares...

Not userful to Ponster's case, but there are legit and warez free trackers such as linuxtracker.org. Slightly more useful might be legaltorrents.com, which is what it sounds like, though I don't know how good their tracker is.

    Indeed :)

I needed to seed a 500Mb patch for Battlefield 2 yesterday and couldn't find a free, stable, bittorrent tracker to host it. (did find something in the end but it also hosted warez I think).

I'll give legaltorrents.com a try as I'm sure I'll need the info again in the future :)

You know, bittorrent doesn't have to always equal warez.

Oh right, I was just aware of the context from yesterdays release and hanging around the BF section.

i know all about bittorrent ;)
im just pointing to the posters who reply,
that they could be banned for linking to a stable tracker,
if that tracker lists warez torrents on the site.

    Actually.....

I wonder if they would be though. For example I could link to a warez torrent site which would result in a ban. but if I linked to a tracker which was nothing but the tracker URL and had no info to actually download stuff (only upload) then maybe not?

I think the OP should have a look on google because nobody on this forum is allowed point to an illegal website. Just type in torrents in the bar.

Hi. This is the OP. I tried Google but didn't get much help. BTW, have you bothered reading any of the threads in this post?
Do you know the difference between a torrent and a tracker?

doesn't google technically link to illegal trackers ... so linking to google could be a bad idea too :p
