Hi i installed the new beta of microsoft office 12 and was using it for over a month, i wrote up alot of important documents and now the beta has ended, didnt realise it was a trial which has now ended,

all my files are now only read only and wont open in microsoft office 2003 which i paid for or wont open in open office. I can view n possibly print the documents from office 12 but nothing else.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing office 12 but that didnt help, has anyone any other ideas, i dont want to go out n paid for office 12 and this is really annoying.

    help me

MS Word Viewer 2003 should do the trick for you.

no i can view them already, cant copy them though which with word viewer u obviously can but that doesnt fix the problem of not being able to edit the files or the excel files, plus theres so many files, over 200 of them.

OpenOffice works with just about any document type (including MS Word 2000) you can think of. What message are you getting when you tried to open it?

Beta 1 or Beta 2? Because Beta 2 is still wide open. Also, what exactly did you think Beta software meant?

When you were saving your files, did you save them using the default format? Because thats been radically changed for Office 12.

no i saved them as there default, i presume its beta1, if i download beta two, open the files in that and save as an older version of word, backup to cd and uninstall all word and reinstall office 2003 will this work? if so where can i pick up beta 2?

Yes, that should work. Mind you, its possible to have Office Beta 2 and older editions installed side by side, except for Outlook, which will be overwritten with the Beta version.
