Can anyone tell me how do you compress a digital image using adobe photoshop or similar program.
I took some photos at high resolution with a 6 mega pixel camera and I want to post them on the net and I need to reduce the file size.
I can't seem to figure it out.

    Thanks.

First you want to resize them physically, demension-wise.
Then just use save-as and pick something that compresses well like .jpg
Can't give you exact instructions since I don't use photoshop.

When you have the file open in photoshop, you can always resize them to reduce the filesize a bit. If you want to lower the compression click File, Save as, select JPEG from the file type, enter a filename and click Save. You will see a dialog box where you can lower the compression (low, medium, high, maximum).

Have a look at the Power Toys from Microsoft. There's a batch image re-sizer that's quite handy for resizing images to any size with just a few clicks. Downsizing an image should drastically reduce the file size too.
