This has long been a puzzle to me...what is it with Charlie Bird and Bord na gCon?

Back at the start of the year he treated the story as if it were 9-11 all over again.

I'm pretty sure all other broadcast media pretty much ignored it.

Only this evening the story was back in RTE bulletins.

is there something else going on there?

Fully agreed - indeed this whole story has been blown way out of proportion by RTÉ the whole way along. One wonders if Bird has a special interest in this, good, bad or indifferent.

It's become very tired now - just like the Cian O'Connor affair

    LOL!

RTE pushing a controversy the government is involved in. Down with that sort of thing – right?

    An absolute disgrace! lol

Just RTÉ News have a habit of picking up a story and then running with it for all eternity because they've become some way involved with it, either through uncovering it, or one of their reporters (inevitably Bird) getting caught up in the frenzy by being referred to directly by the people involved.

These stories also tend to make the headlines with RTÉ rather than further down the list, which is really what's irritaiting about this type of thing.
