With this being a double header with the Laois-Tyrone football game, will tickets be hard to come by before the game does anyone know?

    Kev,

It's not sold out. but I have been told by someone who'd know that you should get there early.

    Conor.

Cant imagine it being sold out but why not try and ring the county board to make sure.

The Laois SH Team is as follows:

    P.Mullaney
    B.Campion - P.Cuddy - J.Walsh
    C.Healy - P.Mahon - M.McEvoy
    J.Phelan - J.Fitzpatrick
    S.Dollard - J.Young - T.Fitzgerald
    D.Carter - M.Rooney - D.Culleton

The match is at 3.45pm on Saturday Afternoon in Portlaoise prior to the Laois V Tyrone football match which is scheduled for 5.30pm. All Ticket Entry.

What do people expect of Laois in both games???

We'll lose by at least 20 points in the hurling. Light years away from where we were in the 80's.
The football, I'm not so sure. My heart says that we can compete with Tyrone and maybe even win by a point or two if everything (and I mean everything) goes our way. My brain says we lose by about 8 points...

mise freisin. i do believe the talent is in the laois team to compete with the tyrone team as it currently stands. however i've heard too many rumours of disquiet and disagreements in the camp to expect them to pull together.
that and putting brendan quigley in midfield against tyrone is going to be disastrous... he'll be eaten alive.

the hurlers shall be hammered.... men against boys.

having said that i'll still be there for both matches (i need a bit of pennance anyway ;))

Got my ticket, looking forward to tomorrow. I think we will win the hurlign but it wont be as easy as many people expect. No hammering anyway. It seems set up for an upset

    - Laois coming off the back of a win, certain of their place in the Liam McCarthy cup next year, with nothing to lose
    - A big home crowd, with the double header
    - Waterford's tendancy to make a mess of it when favourites
    - James Young

So Waterford to win for me, just too much class throughout the side, but not by the landslide that some anticipate.

if waterford score a goal or two in the first half then a hammering will follow. Laois throw in the towel in these cases. But i suppose if we can keep the goals from flying in we may only lose by 8 or 9 points.

i still believe we'll be hammered though:)

What a great day for us. The hurlers restored some pride, only losing by 7 points, while the footballers produced their best performance in a long time to beat all Ireland champions Tyrone in shocking conditions.
    Hope springs eternal...

Well said BigCon. The hurlers did indeed restore pride. That seven point margin flatters Waterford IMHO. Laois were more dominant on the field of play, however failure to take scores was their downfall. How many times did we send the sliothar in only to be fielded by the goalkeeper Hennessey???

On the football side, it was a truely great victory. Well done all players from 1-15 and the two subs, pride restored. Sorry to see Padraig McMahon come off at the end.

Only got to see the football... what a game. they havent played like that since beating kildare in the leinster final, amazing heart and determination. completely makes up for the dublin game!
i hope micko sticks with the same team from here on in.

also the atmosphere was electric at o'moore park, the crowd really got behind the team.
