I just recieved my x1800xt, happily installing my new mobo ect ect....and then i realised something. The power plug on the gfx card is a 6pin :(, iv only got an 8 pin coming off my psu which i thought was the one i needed (stupid me shoulda checked).
So im thinking, could i just get a diagram showing what each pin needs ie - positive, negative, and just ghetto power this thing up :D.

    Thoughts?

EDIT: Just took a closer look, the plug that i have does fit in but the last 2 pins are obviously not plugged into anything?

Nice one :0. Just to clarify, i will need two molex connectors plugged into this? How does the one from komplett do the same job with one molex  . Just curious.
Where are you located Pog? I would rather my dad collected this, im impatient at this stage :D.

You will need 2 dongles that connect in2 hard drives (4 pin). They connect from psu to hd normally. Make sure you have the cables spare and connected to your psu. Otherwise it wont work.

Not sure if they provide the same power but 2 connections to psu should be more powerful than 1  Krazy-8s will know.

Unfortunately i live in Roscommon, it would be a long spin for your Dad. Krazy-8s might be nearer.

Ye, i was thinking the same, how can one cable use 2 molex and the other use 1 - *apply krazy's knowledge here* = answer :D.

Krazy, where are you located then?

    Cheers for the help guys.

The 8 pin one is a motherboard connector, the graphics card needs a 6pin one. I've never checked if they are electrically compatable, but I wouldn't plug an 8 pin into a 6 pin socket, adaptor or not, could be diff voltages :)

I think the reason for the 2 connectors is that you get a higher ampage (ampere) than you would from just 1 connector. I could be wrong so dont take my word for it

I got one in Blanch a few months ago. It took a bit of explaining but they did have it. I was there in person, rather than on the phone.

Here's one on their uk site: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=A42CX&DOY=6m7
    part no. A42CX

Cheers, im gonna phone the dublin branch back to and give them this part number, the idiot on the phone didnt have a clue what i was talking about and just said get us the order number and we will order it. Chances are its sitting 2metres away from him  . They really need to get some new staff in that place...
    Cheers for that info.

Well as suspected the maplins employees nearly wasted me a lot of bloody time. My sister walked into the dublin branch, gave them the part number and they had 3 sitting in a box, feel like phoning up head office and letting them know what a bunch of dumasses they have working there.
This is the second time this has happened to me!

No no, my sister purchased one for me from maplin, she's fired up and flaring (not my sister) :D, very happy. Feels good to set everything to HIGH.

Thanks again for the help pog, mucho appreciado.
