Stop programmes starting up?

    i have done this before, just can't remember.
    do i type "ms config" after going to Start-> Run.

    error message comes up, cannot find the file ms.........

    please help

    Its just "msconfig" no space between.

    i had already tried it with no space.
    it says it cannot find the file!

    any ideas why this could be?

    Startup Control Panel will do the job for you if you cant find msconfig.

    edit: just found out it wasnt included in Windows NT or 2000 (you can download the Windows XP version).

    Agree. Great piece of software. Excellent for adding startup items too.

    Spybot S&D has a good startup manager too under advanced options.

    Startup Inspector is another 1. Lets you know if they should be turned off or not.
