I was thinking of doin a taught Masters out in DCU and to apply i have to send out a copy of my previous results along with a "personal statment" form.

Does anyone know what kind of info should be in this personal statement??

Hey, I'm going to be doing the Journalism Masters in DCU in September - I don't know if this will be anything similar to what you have to do, but for my personal statement I wrote a general bit about why I really wanted to do the course, then went into detail about my experience and then a small section on awards/prizes.

If that's not relevant then a friend of mine applied for the International Relations one, and she only had 250 words to play with so kept it very brief - how her degree had given her an interest in the area, the subjects she'd already studied that might be of relevance for the course and what she planned to do with the Masters - basically persuading them that she had a strong interest in it and would get a lot out of it.

Overall I'd say just keep it concise and relevant!

    Hope that's some help...?

    hi,

just wondering what other people did about this? i have applied for a taught masters (left it a bit late!) but about the personal statement it says:

"If you wish to provide additional information in support of your application (e.g.
particular abilities) you may do so by enclosing this personal statement form when
submitting your supporting documentation to the Postgraduate Applications Centre."

Now i dont really have any additional information to support my application, but would it look bad to not add it? i dont want to just ramble on just so that i have SOMETHING in. Dont really know what to do..
