I seem to be having problems racking up sufficient repair points as an Engineer to get anywhere near the 10-20 repair points in a round to pick up my Vet. Engineer badge.

Whats the best map to try this and does anyone have any suggestions?

As US on any map with the Essex, man the air defence system and piss off a few enemy jets. You can then set about repairing the air defence system and rake in the repair points.

Remember if you are in a jeep \ humvee you "fix" things 3 times faster.. I think I got my mine on Karkee on a high point server

I've been on Veteran Engineer for an absolute age now, I just gave up trying to rack up the points or kills for the two gold awards.
I found the best for me anyway was either sitting in a buggy following tanks, or sitting in a chopper as a passenger.

The advantage of sitting in the chopper is that you also get kill assist points when they kill people

Maybe try getting into a transport helicopter and get into one of the side seats and use your wrench to repair the heli in mid flight. Hardest part is finding a pilot who will stay up in the air for you. Join a team thats in a heli so incase you get shot you can spawn back into the heli.

I do have to say they are the hardest points to get. I got my basic but geve up trying to get my veteran. the most I ever got in a round was 7 would take me a life time to get 10 i think. Next EA patch should make engineer points easier to get and medic points harder to get. A little balancing would be nice here.

    Thanks for the tips guys

I think I would have to agree with you there patch 1.4. I normally play as Medic and its easy to clock up the points firing medi packs around the shop on Karky, while it seems impossible to clock up points as an Engineer.

Not very many Spec Forces bother blowing up the enemy arty, UAV & radar much, so there is only a couple of tanks to fix. :-/

Engineer weapons are not too powerful, the jackhammer is crap unless your close enough to knife the enemy and the MP7 is very powerful but runs out of ammo very quickly so your left milling around with your pistol looking for an ammo bag :D

The best way to get your repair points without cheating of course is to hop into the second seat in an AA vehicle..just duck and cover and you repair away!:)

And the best way to do so by cheating is to get a Humvee and drive half of it into some water. Hit F3 to change position and use the wrench to repair it as the water tried to destroy it.

No idea if that still works though....

But that's classed as stat padding.

I got expert by simply driving towards an enemy base and firing at a few inf, then when theyre pissed at you just f3 and go repair, remember to select spanner before you get in the vodnik/hmwv

just stay on the outskirts of their base so you dont die too quick, dont worry about being killed, just keep repeating this and you will rack up the points no probs ;)
