I would be seriously interested in invading Harvey Normans or somewhere like that.

    Real interesting .....

Cant see it happening in Ireland.

I wonder if it would work here in Ireland, stores are already crammed as it is, and they still don't offer us discounts. I'd be very intrigued to see if this works.

There was an online-only version of this a few years back but it imploded like a lot of other .coms - sorry can't remember the name but I bought a few electronic goods from them.

As far as I remember, items were sold on a specific date/time. When looking at the details of the item you could see what volume discounts were available for it e.g. 10% discount if 5 people were willing to buy it, 20% discount if 10 people were willing to buy it, etc... and the number of people interested in buying the item. You could do things like specify at what discount you were willing to buy the item etc...

    All-in-all a win-win for customer and retailer.

Yeah that was them. The Irish site didn't get enough buyers so it had to fold up.

    Great concept though.

I think the point they are making that if you work together there is more chance of a discount.

As it stands an indivdual dont have much power bargaining wise.

'Might be them - the ant logo rings a faint bell.

As far as I remember everything had a Co-buy option then. Now it seems that very few have.

    Co-buying explained here: http://ie.letsbuyit.com/co_buying-faq.html

Huh? I thought letsbuyit.com went belly up as well during that .com fall!

Still remember those ads on tv when all those ants marched to that marching drum beat :D

Never tried it as I didn't take to internet shopping then but always thought it was a good idea. They should start up an ad campaign again, now that a lot of people have access to the net and are more comfortable with it

there was a "lets buy together" that isn't about any more.
