Ok I have quit my job in a solicitors firm and I am looking to change the direction of my career.

Unfortunately I did a Law degree and I quit an IT degree that I was doing in trinity just to do it. Problem is that I find I bloody hate law.

Since finishing my degree I have worked solely in IT. I worked for 2 years in a solicitors firm not doing any law but configuring, installing and maintaining a new IT system around which the office now works. It was a fairly complex job considering I had to take a totally backward legal office and get it working to a new modern system.

It went down very well in the area and a few of the IT suppliers were coaxing me to go solo and manage installations for them. So I did an Enterprise Ireland entrepreneurial course for a year and I registered a business and I tried to go solo.

I coordinated installations in 4 offices as an IT consultant but unfortunately the legal profession is going through some severe changes at the moment and business turned bad.

I have enlisted to do a Prince2 course this summer. It's a cert in Project Management. I feel it may help me get into interesting management jobs in the future.

However, I do not know where to go next.

I have a Law degree, an Entrepreneurial course done and 3 years experience in IT management. I will have a Prince2 cert soon. I have absolutely no formal IT qualification. Yet I can build office systems, networks, document control systems and VoiP systems. I have fantastic range of knowledge in IT and I love working in IT.

I would love to get into management and/or project management in IT and I would be happy to start at the bottom but anyone I hand my CV to says I am over-qualified or lack experience.

I seem to be in a place where I have too good a CV to start at the bottom and too weak a CV to get in further up. Also, there seems to be very few junior PM positions. They are all senior. What is the best way to start into Project Management? I would love to get in somehow but there are no junior jobs advertised and I don't know where to look.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

    Sorry for the long post.

I'm pretty sure I was one of those people who said that you didn't have enough experience. You rang me about a month ago regarding a PM position I had advertsied. I don't think you ever sent me your CV. I'll PM you my email address so you can send it to me. I'll have a look at it and let you know what I think. BTW I don't have any PM positions at the moment.
