    Hi,

I just got my hands on the new creative zen vision last week. As i'm starting to explore what it can do I've bit a bit dissappointed with the sound. I'm guessing theres some sort of sound limiter on it like the old sony md players. Does anyone know how to turn this off so I can deafen myself.:D

Which model did you buy? Are you talking about headphones or onboard speaker volume? Is it really that low or is it just your hearing? ;)

I got the Zen Vision:m and i've also cleaned the wax outa my ears so there's no problem there. Its the actual limit on the zen that I want to increase. I've heard that the european version's have a volume limiter. Just doing a bit of looking about and I might try upgrade it to the US firmware

yeah the EU have a limit on how loud your player can be. to improve this, install the american firmware. however, i tried this and it just installs the firmware as the euro version!

I'll give it ago and report back if it works for me.. There's too many god damn rules nowadays in europe.

My Zen sleek goes up sufficiently loud. How loud do you need it?

Get better earphones or you'll damage your ears.

Thats the best advice, you shouldnt need to boost volume that loud if you have good (in-ear) earphones. Saves battery and sounds better too I would say.

If you really dont want to do that, to get the US firmware you need to use the Recovery mode on Zen players, do a google and you should find it.

Look at the IEM (in ear monitors) or Canal Ear phones. Lots of threads over on http://www.head-fi.org/ in the headphones sections. I suggest looking at something like the Creative EP630, Sennheiser CX300 canal earphones to get you started.

Theres no need to crank the volume with these.

zen sleek was released before the EU clamped down i believe. i had the sleek and upgraded to a vision:m and the vision:m is definitely quieter.

as for the in-ear earphones, i have a set and the vision:m is certainly quieter then my old sleek, or my hi-fi etc. etc.

I think i'l give the canal ear-phones a try first before upgrading the firmware.

    Cheers for the advice.

I'd rather be dead than deaf - (Tinnitus and headphones)
