my glowstarter has decided to end its own life. no doubt due to it never being used in the last year and a half or more.
Id rather not spend about 30 odd euro on one so does anyon have a second one spare? not looking for a freebie or anything.

Is it not just a case of replacing the battery?

Well. Open it up and have a look at what size battery it is.
Possibly a "D" size.. Try it with a normal "D" cell and if it lights up a glow plug then you know where the problem lies.. After that it is a matter of buying a decent Rechargeable "D" Cell. ;)

i didnt think normal d cell batts worked in them? i thought they were special batts.i should have plenty of d-cell batts in the car for my mag lite so i'll have a look now.

its not a d-cell. thought that was a bit big alright. its about 2/3rds as long as a d-cell. (a bit shorter then a AA) and its about half as thick. 160sck is the only marking on it that would hint at a model number.

That is a "sub C size"
    1600 Mah
Go for something bigger in the Nimh range
Something like a gp3700 or something.;)
Same as I use in my race car
you should be able to buy one of those handy enough.
    2100 Mah for £1.50 :D

Just walk into a model shop in Dublin where U live and get it in one minute flat.

One Dublin shop that I am aware of sells the glowstart unit with integral battery (without charger ) for €17. The others are surely similar.

    As Coolwings has pointed out.
    Wlk into somwhere like
    Green Hobby &Model
    They are in Harolds Cross,

    Problem sorted on the spot.
You could also go ahead and get a battery in your old one and keep it as a spare.;)

That would be no harm - glowstarts can run down when you least want them to, a 2nd is useful insurance against a messed up day out.

You have to clip the aligater clips onto battery simular to a motorbike battery only smaller. There not very conveniet carry around a 2 tonne battery with that stuck on it, just buy a normal one, its alot handier;)
