I wana buy a lense for my 350D this summer and im looking at a wide angle mainly because I only shoot lanscapes skateboarding and other wide angle stuf ! I have no need for a telephoto lense !

Ive been looking at the canon 10-22mm and canon 17-40mm but all Ive found for these in regards to prices are around 700ish mark and I would like to pay less !

So if you have any suggestions as to where I could buy these for cheaper or any other wide angles lenses that would suit my needs would be great !

    Thanks for any replys !

    Sigma 10-20

My favourite lens EVER. Get it, trust me!

It got plenty of awards, and is under 500 quid in most places!

Yup Ive heard lovely things bout the sigma 10-20 for the price.
If you have that little bit extra the Canon 17-40L is widely regarded as the best lens in the world in the area.

Check the link in my sig for examples, a lot of the shots there are using it, in fact, the majority of newer ones are. 17-40 is nice and all...but that 7mm's makes a big difference ;)

Ahh now many Sigmas come close to L quality these days. And anyway, If it was a choice of getting a sigma with almost L quality or getting an L and paying at least twice the price I know where my money would be going.

I completely agree on the Sigma 10-20. I've had mine for quite a while now and it's probably my second most used lens (behind the wonderfully sharp sigma 24-70). You certainly wont regret getting it.

Hahaha! Cool! Yeah, that was my girlfriend, and the guy that was grabbing the camera off me is Mitchhendrix on Flickr! Good friends with Jim, used to run SMDF together! Call over to me next time you see me with a big camera bag hanging off me, I'll show you the 10-20!

Lol, and master...L lens = money money money...

I recently got the sigma 20-40 2.8 asp. ex dg and am very happy with it. it's obviosly not as wide as the 10-20 , but it's faster at f2.8 through the range. It is a big one tho, filter thread of 82mm.

the sigma 18-50 2.8 ex dc is meant to be good too. may suit you more than the 20-40

The Canon 17-40mm L is available NEW from
ebay-Kea-Photo for EUR 582.82 if that's more in your budget.

Shipping is about EUR30 but Fed-Ex priority - arrive in 3 days.
It's a good service - I've ordered from them twice with no problems.

I bought the Sigma 10-20mm for my 30d, I wanted canon but it wasn't worth the extra price. The sigma is a great lens, it's actually scary how wide 10mm (or 16mm) really is. It comes with the lens hood and all. It also will definately work on the 300d/350d/20d/30d

Note that, at least with the skateboarding, you'd be able to get some fantastic shots with a telephoto lens :)
