I'm constantly being presented with an error report message in IE. Using windows98 OS. I've followed the instructions on Microsoft's website but it doesn't allow me. Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop this happening?

What version of IE are you using? Have you tried to re-install?

I'm not sure what version it is, how would I find that out? I think I recently upgraded on the microsoft website.

Click Help and then About Internet Explorer, when IE is open.

Click Start->Run and type services.msc in the box and then Ok. Scroll down until you see Error Reporting Service, right click on it and select Properties. The status will probably say Started. Click Stop and set Startup type to Disabled. Restart the computer and see how its works then.

Oops totally misread your post. That would only work in XP, looking for a solution.

EDIT- Internet Explorer Reporting Tool might be in your Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel, if so you can remove it.

    Its not in add/remove programs.

I just uninstalled IE there. I updated to version 6 lately and now I'm back to 5.

The only thing I can think of left is the note on the ms website, but you have already done this.
Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or 6 for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows NT 4, Windows 2000
Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

In Registry Editor (Regedit.exe), create a DWORD value called IEWatsonEnabled and set it to 0 in the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

    Internet Explorer 5.0 - 5.5 SP1 (All Operating Systems)
To disable Internet Explorer Error Reporting, use the following steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, and then type appwiz.cpl in the Open box.
    2. In the list of installed programs, click Internet Explorer Error Reporting, and then click Add/Remove (in Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, or Windows NT 4.0) or Remove (in Windows 2000).
    3. Click OK.
