I don't know about Japanese style RPGs.

But the Knights of the Old Republic games and Jade Empire are pretty good.

Yep, both excellent games ;) And bioware are bringing out there first 360 rpg this year, "mass effect" should be great.

Western RPGs just don't do it for me. I find them crushingly dull.

I'm holding out buying a 360 until the Mistwalker games are released. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the final fantasy series until it got crap with FFX-2, is producing two games for this company which he set up after leaving Square enix. Lost Odyssey looks like one of his darker games ala FFVII and FFX while Blue Dragoon looks very like Chono Trigger, Dragon Quest or the early FF games.

They should be excellent especially with most of Sqaure enixs best talent now at Mistwalker. 360 exclusives as well.

It's a role playing game in that you play the role of a ninja. Other than that it's the farthest thing from what would usually be called an RPG.

It does however rock and should be played by everyone and is far more exciting than borefest KOTOR.

Ya iv'e finished both KOTOR both ways, but sometimes they are a bit boring, maybe a bit dragged out, I don't know, I still liked them though.

What about Fable, probably my favourite game on xbox, can't wait for fable2

X-Box is quite short on what one would call RPGs, the few others that haven't been mentioned are all pretty rubbish too. As retrogamer said though there seem to be more coming for the 360 though, i'd just hold out if i were you or eh... find some way to get old school classic rpgs on your xbox:p

He said most importantly that they work on xbox, so a modified xbox running an n64 emulator isnt going to help him

Maybe you could pick up FF on the 360 Headshot? the mmo one, I think you have to pay though, and apprently it's the same as the ps2 version.

But there is some great games coming up as 360 exclusives over the next few months, Retro mentioned a few, along with mass effect, there should be some good choices coming our way. :)

Yes, primarily Nobuo Uematsu... Music in FF games sets the bar in games for me so having him is HUGE... Also the guy who created the characters in Dragonball Z (and Chrono Trigger IIRC), Akira Toriyama is working with them on at least one game :)

He is working on Blue Dragon. Looks very Dragon Quest\Dragonball Z\Chrono Trigger.
