I can vouch for Lahinch. A bunch of us went down there a couple of years ago for the long weekend and had a blast! The bars are great craic at night and there's loads to do during the day too.

Carrick-on-Shannon. Boat trips, great selection of bars and restauarants, and get the bus to Cartown - enormous and daft nightclub.

If you are looking for somewhere that isn't going to get as many 'tourists', try Easkey near Sligo town. Small town but there is a brilliant beach nearby if you get the weather, cracking place for surfing.

It is a small town but there are a couple of pubs, there was a good crowd in all of them, pool comps, etc. And it was the last place I ever expected to find an Indian restaurant...

I've done the Galway a few times each summer with the lads. Id recommend Sligo/Cork both good craic :)

Hey dude : Carlingford is a great spot, if a little on the small side ... plenty of outdoorsy stuff -- you can even hire a boat to cross over for cheap pints in Warrenpoint in da North.

Would also second Carrick/Cartown albeit with a completely crap ratio of men to women....

After that Belfast is always a laugh. Killarney too.

If you're heading westwards, I'd recommend Sligo Town or Westport, Mayo. Sligo's got a lot going for it - plenty of cool pubs/clubs and a nice feel to the place.

Westport is the business. Matt Molloy's is great for a session, with a whole selection of other pubs to keep the throat lubricated for a weekend.

Athlone is good too - nice and handy from Dublin. It's got a good social scene and if you're into it, you could rent a boat and go cruising on the shannon - that's a guaranteed crowd pleaser!
